On January 10, Skoda India unveiled the Kodiaq 2022, the company's flagship SUV. This seven-seater SUV now has updated looks, new features, and, most crucially, is only available with a gasoline engine. It was available in three models upon launch, with prices ranging from Rs 34.99 lakh to Rs 37.49 lakh, ex-showroom, India. However, if you're in the market for a brand-new Kodiaq, there's some information that might be of interest to you.
Within 24 hours of announcing its price, Skoda India found customers for its whole first batch. However, the business has been tight-lipped on the quantity of units in this first batch, which would otherwise provide a more accurate view of its demand-supply equation.
There's some bad news for buyers who didn't acquire a Kodiaq in the initial wave. Waiting times have now surpassed four months, and Zac Hollis, director, Sales and Marketing, Skoda India, hinted at a price jump in following batches of the SUV in a recent response to a Twitter user. Dealers are predicting a two to four percent price increase, however Skoda India has yet to comment on the increased costs. When they do, we'll update this page.
If the news of the Skoda Kodiaq being sold out has depressed you, we recommend scanning multiple Skoda dealerships in and around your home town, as you may be able to find unsold inventory due to cancellation or other reasons, similar to the Skoda Octavia RS 245 and Skoda Karoq, which had a handful of unsold examples lying at dealerships even after the company announced they had sold out their respective units.
In summary, Skoda's flagship seven-seater SUV comes standard with heated and cooled front seats, a panoramic sunroof, hands-free parking, a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and safety features such as nine airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, electronic differential lock, and more.
This SUV will also feature dynamic chassis control in 2022, which adjusts the softness of the suspension based on driving modes. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine now produces 190 horsepower and is linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. While it doesn’t have any direct seven-seater petrol-automatic rival, buyers looking for the 2022 Kodiaq are likely to also consider the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner and Citroen C5 Aircross.
