2022 BMW X3 facelift launch on January 20; bookings open

The BMW X3 facelift is expected to debut in India on January 20, 2022, with pre-orders now being accepted by the German automaker. The majority of the changes featured on the X3 facelift that was unveiled internationally in 2021 will be carried over to the India-spec vehicle.

  • The BMW X3 is getting a facelift with minor interior and cosmetic tweaks.
  • 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engines are expected to be carried over.
  • Customers who reserve ahead of time will receive a complimentary set of 20-inch M alloy wheels.

Customers may reserve the new X3 both online and at their local BMW shop. To sweeten the deal, BMW India is giving all clients who pre-book the premium SUV a free upgrade to the 20-inch 'M' alloy wheels (worth Rs 2 lakh).

2022 BMW X3 facelift: what’s new?

The X3 facelift will include a wider kidney grille, new LED headlights, a redesigned front apron, and an aluminium finish on the window surrounds and roof rails, among other improvements. The taillights have been updated and are now leaner and more sculpted, the rear bumper has been reprofiled, and the exhausts are now more noticeable.
The X3's cabin will be redesigned on the inside, with a new centre console to match the new 4 Series. This implies a new 12.3-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system will take centre stage, along with an overhauled digital instrument cluster and centre console switchgear.

2022 BMW X3 facelift: expected powertrains

The new X3 is expected to keep the existing model's petrol and diesel engine options under the hood. This means that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engines will continue to be used in conjunction with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive technology.
Unfortunately, neither the plug-in hybrid version of the X3 facelift (30e) nor the all-electric iX3 that is available in other markets will be available in our market anytime soon. It's also unclear whether the higher-capacity 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines would be available in India.

2022 BMW X3 facelift: rivals and expected price

When it arrives in our market, the BMW X3 facelift will compete alongside the newly released Audi Q5 facelift, as well as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport, and Volvo XC60. The BMW X3 facelift is expected to cost between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
